Commonly cited estimates run from as little as 30 minutes to as much as 6-7 hours round trip, depending on which family you're assigned and how far they've moved since the previous sighting. A full day including briefing, drive to the trailhead, the hike itself, the hour with the gorillas, and the return typically spans 4-8 hours total.
Can you request an easier trek?
Some operators let you flag lower fitness levels at the briefing, which can influence (though not guarantee) assignment to a closer family — porters are also available to hire on the day for anyone needing extra support on steeper terrain.
